:Writes Elders Council.
Ahead of 2027 Governorship election in Imo, a two time Senatorial candidate in Owerri Zone,Chief Mike Nwachukwu has called on Orlu Zone to in interest of peace, equity and justice,to field no candidate for the post of number one citizen in the 2027 Governorship election in Imo.
This is even as he charged the sister zones of Owerri and Okigwe to seat down, argue and agree on the zone that should take the first shot.
In a letter signed by Mike Nwachukwu popularly known and addressed as “Mpi Dike” and made available to Lead Express as addressed to the Chairman of Imo State Elders Council,HRM,Eze Dr Cletus Ilomuanya, Nwachukwu made it clear that by 2027, Orlu Zone must have held the Governorship seat of Imo for Twenty Four years with Uzodinma pointing out that the seat should be an exclusive reserve for Owerri and Okigwe Zones who he advised to look inwardly and decide who goes first.
It would be recalled that Chief Achike Udenwa, a native of Amaifeke in Orlu LGA served as Governor of Imo State between 1999 to 2007, Rochas Okorocha,a native of Okpoko in Idea to South of Orlu Zone served as Imo Governor between 2011 to 2019 and Governor Uzodinma an Orlu Zone took over from 2019 to round off in 2027.
In the said Letter, Nwachukwu however suggested for Owerri and Okigwe Zones to select their leaders and stakeholders in equal proportion irrespective of the number of LGA’s each has and collectively deliberate, argue and if possible fight and decide on the Zone that should take the first shot.
It would be recalled that Imo State Elders Council led by HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya as Chairman had called on Imo people particularly the Governorship Candidates to allow Uzodinma finish his second term so as to hand over to either Owerri or Okigwe Zone in 2027.
