: Onyemaechi Moves Motion For Nominees Screening

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma appears to have begun the journey of fulfilling the promise of running a unity Government in Imo by ensuring that the new Cabinet is made of people of impeccable character irrespective of political parties.
Uzodinma who disclosed this after his inauguration last January also made it clear that he would give Imo people a better administration and governance in the second term having voted for him overwhelmingly.
Inline with the promise, a staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party in Imo, Hon Modestus Osakwe was one of the Persons screened by the House of Assembly yesterday as Commissioner Nominee.
As at the time of the screening, Lead gathered that the said Osakwe was still in the PDP though may resign in the due time.
Osakwe, an Isu LGA business man contested for Isu State House of Assembly seat under the platform of the PDP and won but later lost the mandate in Court to an APC candidate.
Aside Osakwe, this Paper has it on good authority that most of the Special Advisers approve by the House of Assembly for the Governor belong to various political Parties and not only the ruling APC.

The Imo State House of Assembly had yesterday March 7th, 2024 screened and confirmed 12 Commissioner Nominees during plenary.

This is sequel to the motion moved by the Majority leader Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi and member representing Owerri West State Constituency in the Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency adopted the resolution that the commissioner nominees of Senator Hope Uzodimma, be admitted into the chamber for the purpose of screening and confirmation as the clerk acted upon.

Those screened and confirmed were Hon. Declan Emelumba, Hon. Chimezie Amadi, Barr. Ralph Nwosu.

Others included Hon. Bede Ekeh, Chief Cosmas Madauba, Dr Sir Chika Benson Abazu, Ozo Obinna Ogwuegbu, Hon. Osakwe Modestus, Hon. Anyanwu Anselem Ezechinyere, Barr. Emenike Ejikeme chuks major, Hon. Onyeoha Obinna Evaristus while Hon. Mrs Nkechi Ugwu was conspicuously absent.

Meanwhile, the House also approved the appointment of 16 Special Advisers (SAs) for the Governor.
