Three years after, the supreme leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu is yet to regain his freedom from the DSS.
This is even as many of the Igbo leaders both dead and alive had at one time appealed to both immediate former President of Nigeria, Buhari as well as his successor, President Tinubu to seek Political solution to Kanu’s case for which he was arrested.
Some of the Igbo leaders who appealed to both former president and present included the former Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide President, late Prof George Obiozor who led the delegation of some Igbo leaders to meet the the President, Buhari to release Kanu.
Apart from Obiozor, the immediate past President of Ohanaeze, late Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu at several occasions pleaded with Tinubu to see to the release of Nnamdi Kanu, all to no avail.
Aside the following, a business mogul and an Igbo born billionaire, Chief Arthur Eze has not ceased to appeal to the present Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu.
As if that was not enough, the wife of the Igbo War lord, late Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu has also appealed to Mr President to release Nnamdi Kanu.
However, source close to Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo revealed that few days after the late Iwuanyanwu’s visit to the detained IPOB leader,he gave up the ghost towards the end of 2024.
Speaking to Journalists after the IPOB legal team and the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu,Prince Emmanuel Kanu visited the detained leader, Emmanuel Kanu attributed the delay in releasing his brother to what he described as nonchalant attitude of the South East Governors towards the case.
He however alleged that President Tinubu had at one time invited the said Governors to discuss the issue but the Governors did not attend.
Recall that the IPOB leader was few years ago arrested by the Nigerian Federal Government in Kenya on one of his visits to the place.
Upon his arrest, he was brought to Court for charges based on treasonable felony, a trial for which he Undergoes at the time of this write up.
