Aftermath Of S/C Judgement: PDP Emptied Airport As Onyeriri’ Returns

It was a carnival like event last Tuesday as PDP members stormed Sam Mbakwe to welcome, Rt Hon Jones Onyeriri’ from Abuja after the cancellation of his candidature by the Supreme Court few days ago.
The embattled Onyeriri’ has over the weekend received a shock of his life when the Supreme Court pronounced his candidature illegal.
The supporters were seen early arriving the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport,Owerri in their numbers and were in jubilant mood as they sang while waiting the arrival of the airplane conveying their principal.

Meanwhile, some persons who witnessed the airport reception quipped that the crowd is a pointer to the coming Primary in the PDP.

You may recall that the Owerri Nkworjí, Nkwere local government Area born Law maker had his ambition towards reclaiming the Senatorial seat of Orlu zone lost to the All Progressives Congress(APC) in 2019 got crashed recently following the Supreme Court of Nigeria verdict nullifying the Primary conducted by the PDP as having contravened the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However,the two term Federal law maker who represented Nkwere, Nwangele Njaba and Isu federal constitution was seen unruffled as he shook hands with party chieftains aside dancing with supporters at the airport.

According to a source within the PDP, the arrival of Jones Onyeriri to the state and the tumultuous crowd seem to unsettle some interests in the party whose efforts led to nullification of party Primary that produced Rt.Hon Onyeriri as winner.
Equally,another opinion points to what lahead the major opposition in Imo State as nothing the fallout of the party Primary and eventual nullification would further polarise the party ahead the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) timelines for Imo State guber primary and elections.

According to a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Jones Onyeriri has warmed himself into hearts of constituent making for the large crowds that turned up at the airport to welcome him declaring the coming days will unfold numerous things in the struggle for Imo guber ticket.
