Despite public reactions trailing the recent State of Emergency declared by President Tinubu on Tuesday night 18 March, over the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, the Nigerian Senate has approved the State of Emergency.
This is even as they also approved a six-month suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his Deputy and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Recall that the House of Representatives had earlier approved the State of Emergency via voice votes.
Meanwhile, the President’s proclamation of the State of Emergency in Rivers State, had stirred controversy with condemnation from several stakeholders.
