:Rolls Out Plans for Community Development.
The atmosphere of Alaoma, Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community in Orlu LGA of Imo State was filled with the radiance of joy and celebration as the Eze-elect, Aloy Igwe (Ezeoma II) made a special appearance at the 2024 August Meeting of Alaoma Development Union (Women Wing) which held at the community hall on Thursday, August 22, amid warm reception from jubilating women.
Let’s recall that Eze Aloy Igwe was last year overwhelmingly elected to lead the Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Community as the traditional ruler after accepting the clarion calls from the indigines of the area who saw him as the right person to succeed their late monarch, Eze A.K. O. Ikegwoha (Ezeoma I).
Their reasons may not be far fetched as the new monarch before his election as the Eze-elect, enjoyed enormous support, popularity and solidarity, given his notable philanthropic gestures around the community and beyond. It was gathered from the indigines that Eze Aloy Igwe has been a major benefactor to the indigent people in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri, especially the widows as well as the church, and has contributed immensely towards community development in various areas.
Addressing the gathering, Eze Igwe thanked God for bringing the women together from various places to discuss issues that would benefit the community, while appreciating the women for their commitments towards the growth of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Community. He urged them to always ensure that the right things are done both at home and within the community, including keeping the environment clean and safe.
The Ezeoma II who recollected with gratitude how God elevated him to be the king of the community, also appreciated the indigines of the area for their massive support and confidence reposed in him to lead them, promising not to let them down, but to ensure the advancement of the community, leveraging on his contacts and resources.
The 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency, pleaded with the Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri indigines to shun evil practices, but to be God-fearing and law-abiding, assuring that the community under his reign would witness peace, justice and development. He further disclosed plans to institute various projects in the community, including the installation of streetlights and economic empowerment among others.

Meanwhile, in her address, the President of Alaoma Development Union (Women Wing), Nneoma Comfort Okoro, while highlighting the achievements of the women of the area towards community development, hailed Eze Igwe for making his first visit to the August meeting since his election as the traditional ruler. She recalled how God saved the community during some challenging periods by bringing the new monarch onboard, as she appreciated him for all he has been doing for the community.
Her address read in part: “When we lost our great Ezeoma I, Eze A.K.O. Ikegwoha and others, every place in Alaoma was like the world has ended. But the Almighty God remembered us and consoled us with a well-known good man, Eze Alloy Igwe, a lover of peace, a man that saved us during COVID-19. Among other good works, he also built a very big toilet facility for St Martin’s Catholic Church, Owerre-Ebeiri, just to mention but few,” she noted, while praying for their new traditional ruler.
In her contributions, the wife of the late monarch, Ugoeze Beatrice Ikegwoha, expressed satisfaction over the emergence of Eze Alloy Igwe as the new traditional ruler of the community, noting that it was in line with the wishes of Alaoma indigines, as she wished him a successful reign.
