The crackdown started with the arrest and subsequent detention of one of the popular native Doctors,Akwa okuku tiwaraki.
While the said Akwa Okuku was arrested and detained, his Colleagues protested, asking for his immediate release without knowing that the State Government was out to deal and stop such practice in the State.
When it was dawn on the native Doctors that the State Government was indeed out to stop the practice, majority of them ran to the neighbouring State, the Imo State, Lead gathered.
However, Imo is yet to become a safe heaven for them following the recent call by the leadership of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers , seeking identification of all the genuine native Doctors by their Traditional Rulers.
Lead authoritatively gathered that this resolution by Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers was necessitated by the said influx of the alleged fake native Doctors in Imo.
However, by this approach, the the fleeing native Doctors are yet to get comfort in Imo.
Meanwhile, security agencies in both states are said to be collaborating to track individuals suspected of using traditional medicine as a cover for illicit activities.
