Another Media Guru Appointed L.G Secretary as Eric Nwikwu Takes Oath of Office

Few days after the inauguration and swearing-in of the former Chairman of Imo NUJ, Chief Fidel Onyeneke as the Secretary of Owerri West Local Government Area, another media personality, Chief Eric Nwikwu has been sworn-in as the Secretary of Ehime Mbano Local Government.
This is even as he assured the People of diligence in discharge of his duties upon Swearing-in.
Nwikwu, a Journalist of great repute was the publisher/ editor of the now defunct newspaper, Mbano Outlook, this was the first private Newspaper that existed in Imo state between 1994 to2000.

He headed the Information units of Ehime Mbano and Mbaitoli Local Governments between 1992 to 1999.

He was appointed Chief Press Secretary to Senator Sylvester Anyanwu, an appointment which lasted between 2008 to 2011.

Aside the above, Nwikwu was Producer of NHIS-sponsored Igbo radio documentary, Nchekwa Ndu N’huike which dominated the airwaves in the 5 South East radio stations between 2010 and 2013 and was also the
Producer of NAFDAC-sponsored Igbo radio documentary, Maka Ahuike Gi which featured in the five South East radio stations between 2013 and 2014.

He headed the Information units of Ehime Mbano and Mbaitoli Local Governments between 1992 to1999.

In his acceptance speech,
Chief Eric Chibuike Nwikwu vowed to discharge his assigned duty efficiently, diligently and selflessly with a view to contributing to the growth, development and betterment of Ehime Mbano Local Government.

Lead Express reports that Nwikwu was sworn-in as Secretary of Ehime Mbano Local Government, Imo State, on Tuesday, at the Council Headquarters, alongside Supervisory Councilors and the Statutory Special Adviser on General Duties to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uche Nwodu.

The inauguration rite was officially performed by the Magistrate in charge of Nsu Magistrate Council, CN Nkwocha, who charged the new appointees to discharge their various duties in accordance to the dictates of the laws of the land to improve democratic governance, welfare and wellbeing of the people who produce the wealth of the society.

Nwikwu stressed that he will always deploy his wealth of experience while working actively and cooperatively with the Executive Chairman, Councillors, Supervisory Councilors and other relevant bodies to firmly achieve set objectives for the Council to evenly strengthen goodness and prosperity therein.

“I thank you for finding us worthy for this coordinated job. I want to assure you that we shall work with you, assist you to pursue set objectives with humility and tenacity of purpose, we shall seek to better Ehime Mbano”, he maintained.

Thus, in his oath of office, Nwikwu, who swore to be faithful, bear true allegiance to the LGA, State and the Country at large, insisted that he would carry out his assignment faithfully and with the best of his ability and in the interest and integrity of the people.

The Secretary expressed profound gratitude to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma and the Executive Chairman of Ehime Mbano, Hon. Uche Nwodu, for finding him and others worthy of the appointments, calling on the people to continue to support the APC led administration as it works to lift the society for enhanced peace and prosperity.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Ehime Mbano Council, Hon. Uche Nwodu, advised the appointees to exhibit high sense of honesty, commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their duties to forge ahead, saying the administration has been able to record great achievements beneficial to the people of the locality.

The inauguration indeed witnessed the presence of prominent persons in the locality including traditional rulers, clergy, Deputy Chairman, DAGs, Hod of the Council and the Councillors led by Hon. Ifeanyi Onyekachi, a renounced journalist.
