Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has admitted that some of his party members suggested organizing counter-protests.

This is even as he opined that opposition politicians are using the #EndBadGovernance protests as a platform for “political revenge” after losing out in the last elections.

The governor who spoke during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, August 2, accused members of the opposition of mobilizing vulnerable individuals to join the protests, which have been characterized by demands for better governance and economic reforms.

Sani went ahead to  urge opposition politicians to wait until the next general elections to “change the government through the ballot.”

While criticizing some leaders of the protest who according to him are not fully participating,  Sani reflected on his past as an activist during Nigeria’s military era. He recalled physically leading protests against military excesses and facing detention as a result.

The governor however, emphasized his respect for the right to protest, which he had exercised during the military regime as he recalled.
