Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has ordered all his ministers to provide a detailed account of their stewardship to Nigerians.

This directive was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a news conference in Abuja.

According to Idris, the briefings by the ministers are intended to keep the public informed about the government’s actions and achievements, as well as to offer Nigerians the opportunity to ask questions. This move follows a previous directive from Tinubu, where ministers were required to sign performance guidelines before their swearing-in, signalling the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Additionally, the Federal Government has commenced ministerial press briefings as part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability in governance. Idris revealed that President Tinubu had directed all ministers to appear periodically before the media to provide updates on their activities and policies.

“These briefings will serve as a platform for ministers to directly engage with Nigerians, highlight key developments in their respective ministries, and address public concerns,” said Idris.

The Minister noted that other ministers would also take turns weekly to address Nigerians as part of the ongoing ministerial press briefings. The initiative comes ahead of the second anniversary of Tinubu’s administration, reinforcing the government’s commitment to keeping citizens informed about its programs.
