: IMHA Fixes Tenure To 2yrs.
Majority of the Councilllorship and Chairmanship Aspirants in the forthcoming Local Government election in Imo may bury their aspirations following what they described as exorbitant price which the APC pegs it’s nomination and expression of interest forms.
This is even as the State House of Assembly has reduced the tenure of the elected Council Chairmen and Councillors to Two years as against Three years as obtainable.
The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC had fixed September 21 for the Local Government election in the State, a decision which was welcomed by all Imo People.
Since ISIEC disclosed it’s readiness to conduct Local Government election, Aspirants have indicated interests from various parties, particularly the ruling APC but some of them have begun to drop their aspirations given the price tag by the ruling APC.
Speaking to Lead Express on preparations for the forthcoming polls, some of the Aspirants who would not want their names in Print disclosed their readiness to drop the aspirations on the grounds of the exorbitant price by which the ruling APC sells their nomination and expression of interest forms.
In a similar vain, a Chairmanship Aspirant described as uncalled for the sale of form at Three Million to contest for an election one is not sure of coming victorious particularly when the tenure lasts for two years.
