Ahead of September 21 Local Government election in Imo.The People of Owere -Ebeiri/Alaoma communities in Orlu Local Government have called on all the Aspirants vying from other Villages other than Umuekepu Village for the interest of peace step down.
This is even as they vowed not only to sanction any Village that distorts what they described as an age long zoning arrangement in the the community but to use both logical and legal means to reclaim the mandate to the rightful Village (Umuekepu village)if it mistakenly gets to the wrong Village.
In a separate Letters written by Owerre- Ebeiri development Union and Alaoma development union and Owerre-Ebeiri Alaoma Dynamic Youths as signed by their leaders and made available to Lead Express, the separate groups made it clear that Owerre -Ebeiri ward, which consists of two Autonomous Communities. Owerre-Ebeiri ancient Kingdom and Alaoma Autonomous Communities had from the time immemorial zoned the seat of Councillorship to rotate amongst the Villages that make up the Autonomous Communities and such, would not fold their hands to see it destroyed
In a one of the letters dated 4/4 2024 and addressed to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress in Imo, the People of Owere-Ebeiri urged the Party for the interest of peace & harmony that has been existing in the Communities, pick their Aspirants from the Umuekepu Village which according to them is the right Village to produce the Councillor.
