The Executive Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Council Hon. Emeka Paul Obi has commended the Governor of Imo State His Excellency Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma for his kind gesture in increasing the minimum wage of Imo State workers from N70,000 to N104,000.
Emeka Obi made this commendation while fielding questions from journalists in his office. He said that Governor Hope Uzodimma is a man with kind heart who has dwelt on his Shared Prosperity promise to Imo people since he came on board as the Governor of Imo State.
Said he: “You can bear with me that His Excellency Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS (Onwa Oyoko), has so much love for Imo workers and by extension, the generality of Imo people. Right from the inception of his administration, he has been doing all he can to see to it that the welfare of Imo State civil servants is well enhanced.”
Continuing, the ebullient and sagacious Executive Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Council Hon. Emeka Paul Obi said: “You are all aware that immediately Gov Hope Uzodimma assumed office, he purchased fleet of coaster buses used in conveying Imo workers to and from office, which is still on till date. He also purchased and distributed exquisite cars to Permanent Secretaries in the State, just as he promoted some workers to the position of Permanent Secretaries and shared luxury cars to them. He embarked on staff promotion exercise, which was abandoned by past governments in the state for many years. He immediately introduced the 13th month payment of full salaries to the workers (popularly known as bonus payment) every end of the year, which has remained till date. There are other packages he doles out to the workers from time to time.
“For instance, my Governor has enrolled all Imo workers in the ongoing Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, to enable them access medical services free of charge. In fact Onwa Oyoko is too much. I doff my hat for him. He has milk of human kindness. He loves humanity and his performance connotes the Biblical injunction which says love your neighbour as you love yourself. No doubt, Onwa Oyoko loves Imo State as he loves the people of the State. If you count what he has done in Imo State since he became Governor, you will find out that they are enormous and it is only someone who has the love of his State that can selflessly do so, just like the late Political sage Dee Sam Mbakwe did for the Old Imo State.”
Hon. Emeka Obi maintained that Gov Hope Uzodimma prepared very well with concrete projects he intended to carry out for the state and that he didn’t just wake up to aspire to become Governor of the State.
“My dear, our people’s Governor Onwa Oyoko prepared very well to come and govern Imo State. He presented a manifesto of 3R mantra to Imo people during his campaign, which are: Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery and he has judiciously maintained that ever since. Onwa Oyoko is a great mind and I keep praying everyday for God Almighty to continue to guide and guard him as he continues to offload the good things he has in store for Imo people. I thank him so much for increasing the minimum wage of workers in Imo State.” Hon. Emeka Paul Obi insisted.
