Just as Atiku said that Tinubu’s address failed to address the needs of the Nigerians involved in the ongoing Protest, participants in Jos have also accused same President of failure to address their needs in his address.
Based on the stated reason, participants in Jos have threatened business owners to join in today’s Protest or completely shut down their businesses. President Tinubu had last Sunday addressed Nigerians and assured them of a better future once the economic policies put in place by his administration begin to pay up.
According to the Jos Protesters, the plan is to prevent damage to their properties.
They however vowed to mobilise more people to come out to express their grievances and dissatisfaction with the broadcast, adding that the protest was the only way to voice their concern to the government.
The protesters, comprising adults and young people, were seen carrying placards, leaves, and flags of different countries moving from one street to another to issue the warning, saying, “No business tomorrow. Everyone should come out tomorrow for the protest.”
The protesters’ major demand is the removal of the fuel subsidy and tackling insecurity in the country.
In his broadcast, Tinubu ruled out the return of the fuel subsidy, saying even though the decision to remove the fuel Subsidy was painful, it was necessary because it has constituted a noose around the economic “jugular of our Nation and impeded our economic development and progress.”
