: Decries Discrepancies B/W Imo, Anambra Bills.
What can best be described as dead luck has befallen the Management team of the EEDC that stormed Imo House of Assembly to interface with the House over allegations of fraud levelled against them at the plenary last week.
Imo State House of Assembly had at the said plenary, accused EEDC of defrauding Imo people by giving them obnoxious bills even when majority of the Residents are continually in blackout and the few areas that have the power are receiving what they described as epileptic power supply.
However, the House after the said plenary resolved that the Chairman of the EEDC, Chief Emeka Ofor be brought for an interface with the House so as to seek a lasting solution to the issues raised at the plenary.
In obedience to the call by State Assembly, Lead gathered that the Management of EEDC stormed the Imo House of Assembly complex on Thursday 29 February where they had interface with the EEDC management at Executive session.
Information to Lead revealed that it took the intervention of the Speaker, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe to calm nerves of members of the State House of Assembly refused to have interface with them on the grounds that the EEDC Chairman, Chief Emeka Ofor must be present, this however did not go down well with the delegation who never expected the House to toe the line they did at the meeting.
Speaking to Lead, one of the House members who would not want his name in Print revealed that though they had interfaced with the management given the intervention of the Speaker but the said Emeka Ofor must be present before the final decisions are taken on how EEDC should operate in Imo.
The House member however appealed to Imolites to be patient and law abiding in their dealings with the EEDC pointing out that the House of Assembly stands by Imo Residents.
Meanwhile, the House members asked the EEDC at the executive session to look into their mode of operation in Imo particularly the issues of transferring bills used by an old tenant to the new one, reasons why Imo Residents pay through their nose to repair Transformers which should be done by EEDC as well as the reasons behind payment of higher bills by Imo people than their Anambra Counterparts.
The Imo House of Assembly at the said executive session charged EEDC to make available prepaid Metres to enable users ascertain and pay for energy consumed than giving them estimated bills amongst Others.
