The Constituents of Onuimo State Constituency has pleaded with the Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma to intervene in the agony over the plight of the people especially in the area of Infrastructural development.

This follows a motion moved at the floor of the house by the member representing the Constituency st the State Legislative arm Hon. James Esile Ubah popularly known as “Fresh Air”, urging the Governor to rescue the Alaocha Community in Eziama Okwe of Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State from the devastating Erosion Menace which has almost destroyed its main link road.

Contained in the motion were some highlights of the area in question, saying that it is a road connected to two other local government Areas and has a major link road that cut across several other Communities in the local government.

The Lawmaker disclosed that the people of Alaocha in Onuimo Local Government Area are mainly farmers who make their living from their farm produce, as they use the link road to export these produce to other local Government Councils in the State and other States, adding that it was regrettable that Agriculture and other socio economic activities had suffered a devastating and terrible set back due to frightening erosion and other menace.

He further noted that the link road in Alaocha Community Eziama Okwe leads to Umucheke Okwe Community and Umuochiri Eziama Okwe which are three political wards in the area.

He however noted that Umuchima gully erosion has drastically affected the economic activities between Imo State and Anambra State.

He therefore urged the house to resolve, urging the Governor to consider the imminence of rainy season this year because according to him, if nothing is done, the community would go into extinction.

While urging the Governor to intervene, it was finnaly resolved by the Legislature that a letter would be written to NEMA, FERMA, and Federal Ministry of works to include the said roads among the ones that need emergency attention in the first quarter of the year, 2024.
