As I reflect on the recent Iriji Ohuru (New Yam Festival) of 2024, I am overwhelmed with profound gratitude, humbled by the grace of God, and deeply moved by the honor you all bestowed upon me by accepting my invitation.
First and foremost, I extend my unreserved thanks to the Almighty God, whose divine protection and abundant grace have preserved my life, family, and endeavors throughout the 22 glorious years of my reign as the traditional ruler of Umuna Ancient Kingdom. Words seem inadequate to convey the depth of my appreciation to the Creator who has faithfully guided and sustained me.
To my esteemed fellow Monarchs, your presence was not only a testament to our shared commitment to cultural heritage but also a reflection of the deep bonds of friendship and unity that transcend our individual kingdoms. Despite the demands of your high offices, you graced this occasion, filling our hearts with joy. I pray that your reigns be marked by good health, prosperity, and enduring peace within your realms. May your kingdoms continue to flourish in harmony and abundance.
My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Priest and all members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Umuna, for their unwavering support and spiritual contributions. Your presence and prayers have been a source of strength and blessing to us all.
To my dedicated Chiefs and all the tradition-titled men of Umuna Ancient Kingdom, I express my profound thanks. Your steadfast loyalty and wise counsel have been the bedrock of our Kingdom’s stability and growth. Together, we have upheld the customs and traditions that make our heritage rich and enduring.
I am equally grateful to the distinguished government officials, politicians, and captains of industries who graced this festival with their esteemed presence. Your participation not only added prestige to the event but also reinforced the important relationship between tradition and progress. May God, in His infinite mercy, continue to bless and elevate you in all your endeavors.
To the sons and daughters of Umuna Ancient Kingdom, both at home and abroad, your unwavering support and encouragement over the years have been truly commendable. It is your collective efforts that have ensured the success of this year’s Iriji Ohuru (New Yam Festival). I pray that prosperity, success, and fulfillment will follow you in every aspect of your lives.
As we look forward to the future, I remain confident in God’s continued blessings and protection. May next year’s Iriji Ohuru (New Yam Festival) find us all in good health, thriving, and gathered once more in celebration, with none missing from our midst.
