The Chairman, Nkwerre Council of Traditional Rulers and traditional ruler of Ishiala Umudi, Eze Joel Onwuegbuchulem Udenkwo JP (Eze Udo1 of Ishiala Umudi) has appealed to the governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma to endeavour to complete the Nkwerre-Ishiala Umudi- Dikenafai Road before the rainy season sets in.
Eze Udenkwo who is also the Chairman, Nkwerre/Nwangele/ Njaba/Isu federal constituency Council of Traditional Rulers made the appeal in an interview with our reporter on the occasion of the maiden convocation ceremony of the first private university in Imo State, Hezekiah University, Ishiala Umudi held last Saturday at the University Pavilion.
He pleaded to the governor not to allow the road construction to stop half way, stressing that he fought relentlessly to make the road motorable.
The royal father who is the MD/CEO of Udekings Electronics and Furnishings Ltd pointed out that if the road is not completed between now and ending of April when rains will come, the road will be impassable.
He thanked the governor, Sen Uzodinma for awarding the contract to reconstruct the only access road leading to the university and also pleaded with him to ensure that the contract is successfully completed, noting that it will help in enhancing the growth and general development of the institution and the communities around.
Eze Udenkwo further urged the governor to direct the contractors doing the road to speed up construction, pointing out that reconstruction of the road is what his community will value most, and if he does the road, they will not forget him and his administration.
He expressed dismay that other past administrations in the state disappointed the community and urged Governor Uzodinma not to disappoint them.
The royal father thanked the governor for coming to grace the occasion and for the support he gave the university, stressing that the location of the institution at Ishiala Umudi has brought more socio-economic benefits and development to the area and in addition to the development of the community through investment by the sons and daughters of the area.
Eze Udenkwo congratulated the wife of the governor, Barr Chioma Uzodinma on the conferment of Honorary Doctoral Degree in Public Administration by the university on the occasion and identified her as a role model with excellent leadership qualities.
The Udekings CEO commended the graduating students for successfully completing their academic journey in the university and enjoined them to be good ambassadors of their alma mater and endeavour to impact positively on the the lives of people and society at large.
He expressed delight and felt great to be present to witness the maiden convocation ceremony of the first private university in the state and appreciated the traditional rulers and community leaders who came to grace the occasion including the traditional ruler of Nkwerre, Eze Chijioke Okwara (Eshi) the traditional ruler of Isi Ama autonomous community in Isiala Mbano LGA, Eze Oliver Ohanwe, the traditional ruler of Nkwerre Opia Egbe autonomous community in Nkwerre LGA, Eze Geoffrey Nnanna, the traditional ruler of Umueze Anoruo , Eze Anoruo and Eze-Elect of Aro Okigwe autonomous community, King Hez among others.
