Traditional Ruler of Obibi Uratta autonomous community, Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State, HRM, Eze Prof Amaobi Uwaleke (Eze Udo IV of Obibi Uratta), has denied being fined Ten Million Naira by the Court for allegedly parading himself as Eze.
Eze Uwaleke said the media allegation of 10 Million Naira Fine by the Court against him was false as such was ill- contrived by the enemies of Obibi Uratta to malign him, as well as score cheap political point.
The Monarch said he was not perturbed at the said media publication because he knew that those who orchestrated it were frustrated and bent to cause unrest in Obibi Uratta, stating that he was not summoned to appear before any Court neither did the Court ask him to stop parading as Eze of Obibi Uratta autonomous community.
Speaking with journalists at his palace on Sunday, the Monarch explained that his rivals were the ones who took the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Imo State, to Human Rights, adding that he was not in the suit, wondering why a matter he was not joined could be decided against him, describing the allegation as petty and a figment of imagination peddled by mischief makers and cogs in the wheels of progress.
He noted that his rival, Boniface Ariri, who he said failed woefully in the plebiscite fairly, freely conducted by Oha Uratta Traditional Supreme Coucil, was taken to Court by the entire community as he (Boniface Ariri) refused to accept defeat. “No body came for the plebiscite as requested by government except me. I was elected Eze-elect, unopposed having had 1250 votes. I was issued certificate and staff of office by government”.
“Court gave 2 rulings and I won all of them. My rival, Boniface Ariri, did not even win any case. No Court asked me to stop parading as Eze of Obibi Uratta autonomous community and I did not present myself to any Court. So, how did the media publication of court finning me #10 million come about?
“They were the ones who rather took IG of Police to Human Rights. I do not have any problem with the Imo State Government. The Shared Prosperity Government is performing wonderfully. We have been supporting the government as it strives towards the good of the people. We thank Hope Uzodimma for constructing quality roads in Obibi Uratta and the entire Owerri North”.
On the celebration of Onwa-Oru Uratta Cultural Festival which took place at Orie Uratta Market Square, last week, Eze Uwaleke said the event was successful as the people came out massively to celebrate with him despite opposing forces, remarking that Onwa Oru Uratta unites the people more, strengthens peace and productivity, as it ushers in farming season.
“I went to the Onwa Oru Uratta Cultural Festival with 11 vehicles as my subjects happily celebrated the tradition with me. It is quite unfortunate that some persons tried to oppose the people from marking the festival by calling in the police who arrested the Vigilante Group after tagging them hoodlums. The same people wildly harassed Nde Oha who left the venue of the Onwa Oru in frenzy, even though I had earlier invited the police to the event. We will not let these oppositions derail us from keeping peace and moving Obibi Uratta forward”, Eze Uwaleke maintained.
