Federal College of Land Resources Technology (FECOLART) during its 30th matriculation ceremony, matriculated one hundred and thirty one (131) students. The College also commissioned its new clinic.

The event held at the college auditorium on Friday 28th June, 2024 attracted dignitaries across Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen immediately after the event, the Provost and Chief Executive Officer of Federal College of Land Resources Technology FECOLART, Dr Olufemi Akande said, matriculation ceremony is very crucial and important in the lives of students because it marks the beginning of acceptance of students as parts and parcel of the college; adding that without matriculation, students cannot become members of an institution.

He said: ” because health is life that is why we decided to build a Clinic and equip it to make sure that the health of our students are taken care of.” He stressed that it was also part of the college’s corporate social responsibility for the host communities. The provost added that the facilities in the Clinic is more than a hospital and urged staff, students and host communities to patronize it.

Dr Akande noted that all the courses offered in the college are very lucrative and urged parents to send their children to this college located at Obosima/ Oforolla in Owerri West LGA of Imo state as it is a specialized vocational institution. According to him, the facilities in the college are able to train the students to stand on their own and to employ others.

The medical director of the FECOLART clinic, Dr Iwuagwu said: ” the facilities we have can take up minor surgeries, basic emergencies, deliveries, standby ambulance services etcetera and what we can’t handle we can refer to larger clinics in other tertiary institutions to take over from where we stopped.”

The Secretary General of Obosima autonomous community, Mr Nwanjoku Naboth admonishes the students to put more efforts in what they are doing so as to come out in flying colours and urged other young persons to join FECOLART as it is a conducive place for learning.

The highpoint of the event was the commissioning of the college clinic by the two royal fathers of Obosima and Oforolla autonomous communities.
