An APC Chieftain and industrialist from Oru-West Local Government Area, Imo state, Chief Alphonsus Okike (ALPHA) has lambasted the President of the Nigerian Labour congress (NLC), Mr. Joe Ajaero over his continuous attempt to create unrest and confusion in Imo state as the state governorship election approaches.
Addressing a press conference in Owerri, Chief Okike stated that Ajaero’s action in calling for strike and all actions he is taking so far to create tension in Imo state when the governorship election is about to hold is a negation of how one can be recognized as prophet in his home state.
The APC Chieftain stated that Ajaero’s inability to address the factionalization of labour in Imo state, as well as identifying who caused whatever he said happened to him shows he (Ajaero) is not fit to lead such a body like the Nigerian labour congress.
He stated that even before now, Mr. Ajaero has a hidden agenda of politicizing his position as NLC Chairman from his actions in Imo where the workers are happy with the Imo state Governor senator Hope Uzodinma, who more than any previous Governor has the interest of the workers at heart.
Chief Okike narrated how Imo state workers are paid as and at when due, enjoy free transportation to and from work, pensioners receive their pension as well as issue of payment of gratuity to retired workers which though has been comatose for years is now being addressed by Governor Uzodinma.
Chief Okike extolled the Imo state Governor for his numerous achievements stating that Imo has never been this much blessed. He enumerated the various standard roads and other infrastructural developments undertaken by the governor and stated that a second term for Governor Uzodinma will guarantee more goodies for the people of the state, as Governor Uzodinma is a man full of vision, ideas and innovation.
He further carpeted the electricity distribution company EEDC for engaging in this unholy alliance with Mr. Joe Ajaero by throwing Imo state into darkness stating that he will initiate a class action with consumers who have sustained serious economic losses because of EEDC’s action. He bemoaned the fact that this is not the first time EEDC is carrying out such unwarranted action. He advised the Imo state government to set up its own independent power plan to call EEDC’S bluff.
Chief Okike concluded that after the election on the 11th November 2023, Mr. Ajaero and his cronies will be disappointed as Governor Uzodinma will be massively voted for and Imo state will continue to progress and prosper.
