Given the hardship and deficiency in food Production in Orlu and Nigeria in general,Senator representing Orlu Zone in the Red Chambers, Senator Osita had on Saturday, August 7, distributed bags of Fertilizers to Farmers in Orlu Zone.
Recall that Senator Izunaso in the last one year has provided various kinds of seedlings and take off grant to Farmers in the zone to increase food productivity in Zone.
In a bid to achieve this, Izunaso a two time Senator and a former House of Representatives has engaged experts in mechanised farming to teach the people, particularly the Farmers in the area.
Addressing the participants in one of the occasions, Izunaso who charged the Farmers to make judicious use of the opportunities however made it clear that the essence of the empowerment was to take our People back to the root pointing out that the only way to fight against the ongoing poverty and hunger in Nigeria was to go back to the drawing board which is Agriculture.
At the last Saturday’s event, Izunaso counseled the beneficiaries to use the Fertilizers effectively and productively towards cushioning the negative effects of rising food prices among others. This followed up his numerous projects and empowerment programmes for the people of Orlu Zone, as the twelve LGAs of the zone benefited with each LGA receiving 100 bags of 50kg of fertilizers.

Commencing the distribution, Senator Izunaso represented by the Director-General of “Kpakpandu Campaign Organization, Hon. Ford Ozurumba, thanked the participants which included: Sole Administrators (SOLADs), APC stalwarts, coordinators and community leaders among others for their solidarity, commitment and contributions towards the senator’s political journey and efforts to transform Orlu Zone and empower the indigines.

“We are here to distribute the fertilizers provided by Senator Osita Izunaso for our constituents. Please I urge you to utilize this opportunity by starting something that would benefit you and your community; I mean agricultural ventures that would add value to your local economy. This is what our Senator wants to achieve with this fertilizer distribution. The major value one brings to the society is when empowerment begins from the bottom to the top. It when the local people are positively impacted as this gesture seek to achieve,” he noted.

Ozurumba, the immediate past Imo State Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, emphasized the lawmaker’s relentless efforts towards ensuring that Orlu Senatorial Zone enjoyed effective representation, while promising that more human empowerment initiatives were on the way. According to him, Senator Izunaso from time to time has created avenues for his constituents to receive capacity building, recalling their recent workshops in such regards.

He enjoined the leaders to ensure equitable distribution of the fertilizers in their localities towards achieving the objectives, while urging the people of the senatorial zone to embrace farming of different scales as a way out of the current economic challenges in the country, as he solicited their continuous support for Senator Izunaso to actualize his good vision for the zone.

Meanwhile, some of the participants while reacting, hailed Senator Izunaso for always using various avenues to justify his mandate from Orlu people, pledging their unweaving support for him.

One of them, Dame Nnepuruiche Ada Okorie, a former All Progressive Congress (APC) Imo State Women Leader from Oguta LGA, while expressing joy, said that she was not surprised about Senator Izunaso’s exploits because the lawmaker whom she described as accessible has demonstrated good dispositions and desires towards lifting the zone to an enviable height through various initiatives. Dame Okorie, while praying for the senator, appreciated the gesture, and promised its utilization.
