The deplorable state of Ihiala / Orlu Road which cuts across Three Local Governments has re echoed as Imo State House of Assembly has joined the member representing Orlu,Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency ,Chief Canice More Nwachukwu in his clarion call for immediate rehabilitation.
Chief Canice More Nwachukwu popularly known as Omeogo had few weeks ago moved a motion for the immediate rehabilitation of the said Road given it’s deplorable state.
Speaking on the said motion,Omeogo recounted the importance of the Road which included but not limited to as a medium through which Farm products are transported to the Cities.
However,Imo State House of Assembly during the plenary yesterday passed a resolution, urging the State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma to direct the Ministry of works to carry out Palliative Rehabilitation on Orlu to Ihiala road through Orsu local government Area.
This call however follows a motion moved by Hon. Uche Francis Agabiga who in the motion explained that Orlu/Amaifeke/Ihioma/Ebenator/Awo-Idemili/Ihiala Road is a Federal Road that cuts across three Local Government Areas which included Orlu, Orsu and Ihiala Local Governments.
According to him, I am aware that Federal Agencies such as Federal Roads Maintenance Agency(FERMA)/NAMA were recently called upon by Federal House of Representatives to carry out thorough rehabilitation on the said road on the floor of the hallow chamber but why that is coming, palliative Measures were supposed to be taken to ameliorate the sufferings of the Road users.
He however stated that the Ihioma/Ebenator/Awo-Idemili axis of the road has completely collapsed and has become Impassable.
