IMHA: Egu’s Motion on Investigating Death of Pregnant Woman Adopted

The Imo State House of Assembly has adopted a motion which called on the Security Agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the gruesome murder of Mrs Chinwendu Amadi and her unborn baby at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport.

This followed a motion moved by the member representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency during Plenary, Yesterday.

The House also passed a resolution to call on the Security Agencies to conduct thorough investigation of the heinous crime, identify the perpetrators and ensure they face the consequences.

Further in the resolution, the House urged the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to construct a perimeter fence within Airport premises to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access to airport facilities.

Moving the motion, Egu acknowledged the efforts of Nigeria Police, Army, Department of State Security (DSS), Air Force, and other law enforcement agencies in the State for their commitment in maintaining law and order.

The lawmaker was emotional in condemning the brutal killing of the expectant mother who hailed from Awogu Logara Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala LGA, saying the people and the Community are in mourning.This is even as he emphasized that the victim’s unborn baby died in the process.

The member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie was among the members who lent their voices in support of the motion, condemned it in entirety, adding that security measures should be taken urgently, otherwise the worst could happen.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency resolved in favour after Puting it to voice vote as the “aye” voice was louder.

Speaking with Imo State House of Assembly Correspondents in his office shortly after Plenary, the mover of the motion, Rt. Hon. Egu restated that the act has sent shivers down the spine.

He therefore requested the establishment of Police Station around the Airport
