Owerri, the Imo State capital was Agog on Wednesday, August 21, following the launch of an Al powered online learning platform by Classmigo Ltd for primary and secondary school students. The initiative, it was disclosed has as target subscribers pupils and students not only in Imo and Nigeria, but across the African Continent, working according to each country’s curriculum for the residents.
The revolutionary approach is coming on the heels of declining educational standards in the society, necessitating the founders to look beyond the conventional approach of leaning by providing for the pupils and students a smart way of accessing personalized, customized, sound, cost-effective and seamless education that keeps them ahead of others from any location. The platform promises high grades for subscribers who would also enjoy individuals mentors.
Speaking during the event at the Rockview Hotels, Owerri, the CEO and Co-founder of Classmigo, Mr. Chinedu Chimezie Mendel, noted that various loopholes in the educational sector had led to the majority of pupils and students failing below standards, with some ending up as problems to the society. Mr. Medel added that the app was created to cushion the ineffectiveness in the sector, as well as to meet the peculiar educational needs of individuals learners.
“This platform is an AI learning tool that will help the pupils and students to learn from the comfort of their homes using their computers and tablets and anything they are learning is already customized and personalized for them depending on their individual styles of learning. That is what we just launched today.
With the app you have personalized learning and it comes with the opportunity for the pupils and students to go through a topic several times by watching the videos and even seek clarifications from the teacher in order to assimilate the subject effectively. Also our AI, Classmigo AI is there for interactions and prompt response to any question.
We have over six thousand educational videos on our platform and each child would be assigned a personal mentor and also take part in Classmigo quiz contest where those with the highest marks would receive laptops and tablets and even scholarships not just for the app or their schools, but to university levels,” Mr. Mendel clarified.
The Imo State-born, United Kingdom-based Computer Engineer, regretted the inadequacies in the Nigerian school system, especially lack of teachers and access to learning materials for students. He promised that the Classmigo platform which synchronizes with government approved syllables would help pupils and students to be sound academically as well as make good grades in examinations as he urged parents to take advantage of the platform to enroll their children.
On his own, the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Classmigo, Mr. John Ihejieto, averred: “We are bringing learning in an innovative way. It is a personalized and a new way of learning. We hope that pupils and students will download this app in order to enjoy the benefits.” He also revealed plans to include adult education in the app in future.
It was gathered that pupils and students can access Classmigo App by visiting www.classmigo.com or by going to the Google play store to search and download the app for registration. The subscribers will enjoy three days grace period to explore the platform before their subscription begins to count.
Meanwhile, participants during the unveiling of the Classmigo App hailed the innovation as timely and impactful. They included government officials, proprietors of school, parents, students among others.
Addressing, the Imo State Commissioner for Youths Development and Talent Hunt, Dr. Mandela Ukaegbu represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Lady Dorathy Mirikwe, said that the innovation was in line with the vision of the government towards strengthening the capabilities of young people, assuring of government’s support and collaboration.
Other dignitaries included: the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Education Intervention, Hon. Mrs. Esther Ukachukwu; and her Skills Acquisition counterpart, Hon. Chidi Onyewuchi; the Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Umeh Olivia Ukamaka and the Vice-Rector of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts Seminary, Owerri North LGA, Rev. Fr. Simon Ogwo among others.
