:Orlu Elders Council Gives Conditions For Implementation
:Meets Counterparts.

The plans to hand over the Governorship seat of Imo to Owerri or Okigwe Zone to produce the Governor of Imo as propounded by Imo Elders Council in 2027 may at the end of the day become a mirage as Orlu Elders Council has begun to give conditions under which the said agreement would be kept and sustained.
Orlu Elders Council under the Chairmanship of HRH,Eze Cletus Ilomuanya had few days ago met their Owerri Zone Counterparts as well as Okigwe Zone, marshalling out terms and conditions under which Orlu People would be part and parcel of the arrangement of ceding power to Owerri Zone after the elapse of Uzodinma led administration.
Part of the conditions given by Orlu Elders Council to their Owerri and Okigwe brothers at the said meeting was immediate withdrawal of all the Governorship elections petitions pending in Court against Governor Hope Uzodinma by Candidates from Owerri Zone and Okigwe Zone.
It would be recalled that Imo Elders Council under the leadership of HRH, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya had prior to November 11/11 Governorship election in Imo, modified the existing Charter of Equity in Imo and ordered all the Governorship Candidates from other zones to step down for Uzodinma on the grounds that after Uzodinma, the power would shift to Owerri Zone and Okigwe Zone.
In disobedience to the said charter of Equity, the people of Owerri and Okigwe Zones had their sons actively participated in the said Governorship election.
In Owerri Zone, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu was the Governorship Candidate of the PDP and he came second in the results declared by INEC while Senator Athan Achonu was the Governorship Candidate of Labour Party and came third in the results declared by INEC.
However, leaders across the State, particularly the People of Orlu have reacted differently towards the participation of Owerri and Okigwe people in the last election against the charter of Equity.
Recently, the President of Orlu Consultative Assembly, (OPOCA), Barr Anunobi called on the 2023 Governorship Candidates from Owerri and Okigwe Zones to withdraw their pending suits against the victory of Governor Uzodinma.
In a release signed by the said Anunobi as the national president and the National Secretary,Dr Goddy Esomobodo, they made it clear that failure of the candidates to withdraw their pending suits in Court against the victory of Uzodinma,it implies that the said doctrine of Charter Of Equity would no longer be kept, maintained and sustained.
However, this stand of OPOCA received varying reactions, while some condemned it, others, particularly those from Orlu supported the stand of OPOCA.
While Orlu Elders Council appeals to Governorship Candidates to withdraw their suits against Uzodinma in order to pave way for Owerri Zone to succeed Uzodinma, this paper authoritatively gathered that some of Orlu politicians have concluded plans to run for the 2027 Governorship election of Imo State and where this happens,it means that the aims and objectives of the charter of Equity may not be realized.
