… Aggrieved Monarchs Seek Gov’s Intervention.
While majority of Imo Monarchs are worried over continued leadership of HRH, Eze Dr E.C Okeke as the Chairman,Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers when his tenure constitutionally has elapsed, what can best be described as crises of interest loom in the Council following the recent appointments of HRH, Eze Fred Nwachukwu as Deputy Owerri Zone and HRH, Eze Iheanacho Ndukwe for Okigwe Zone respectively.
It would be recalled that the recent appointments were on the behest of the deaths of HRH, Eze David Akujuobi Osuagwu ,who until his death was the deputy Chairman Owerri Zone and HRH, Eze Gody Okeke, deputy Okigwe Zone.
Speaking to Lead Express, one of the popular Traditional Rulers in Imo who would not want his name in Print revealed that the appointments of the new deputies were not in the best interest of the Imo Monarchs pointing out that the Chairman of the Council did not follow the laid down rules in the said appointments.
The Monarch who however called the attention of the Governor to look into the appointments to nip in the bud looming crises which these appointments will cause in the Traditional Institution made it clear that Eze Okeke never consulted any traditional ruler while making the appointments which according to him is part of the laid down rules before one is appointed into such position.
According to the Monarch, the Chairman of the Council, Eze EC Okeke handpicked his loyalists for the two important positions without considering what the appointments may result in.
In his submission, a Traditional Ruler from Okigwe Zone who also spoke on the guise of anonymity called on the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to look into the appointments as well as other issues surrounding the leadership of the Imo Council Of Traditional Rulers led by HRH, Eze E.C Okeke.
