Ahead of November 11 Governorship election in Imo, group under the appellation of “Ndi Okigwe Zone Worldwide under the auspices of Okigwe Security Boardroom (OSB) has endorsed the candidature of Labour party Guber hopeful, Senator Athan Achonu.
This is even as they resolved that Okigwe Zone should Kickstart the Imo charter of Equity on Governorship seat.
In a Communique signed by some of the leaders of Okigwe zone which include High Chief Sir Chima Uzobuihe as the converner, Dr Stephen Onuegbu (Representative of Ihitte Uboma LGA),Dr Kenneth Olebara, the Representative of Isiala Mbano LGA, Sir Uchenna Don Ogoke (Ehime Mbano LGA) ,Dr Linus Nwachukwu,( Onuimo) ,Chief Augustine Nwokoro, ( Okigwe LGA), Dr Oliver Nwosu ( Obowo LGA) and the representative of the Clergy, Bishop Emmanuel Okereke and made available to Lead,the group however revealed that Okigwe zone having been marginalized in the Governorship seat of Imo should be allowed to Kickstart the charter of Equity and after which, Owerri Zone will take her slot.
As contained in the Communique, allowing Orlu Zone which has held sway the Governorship seat of Imo for Twenty years against Okigwe which had only Four years and Owerri Zone with Eight months to Kickstart the charter of Equity as height of injustice, the group maintained since Okigwe zone was the first to have her tenure truncated by Orlu Zone before that of Owerri Zone, equity demands that Okigwe Zone should Kickstart the said charter of Equity.
The group which used the forum to appeal to Imo people to support the candidature of Achonu made it clear that Achonu possesses the leadership prowess to move the state forward.
