Founder and General Overseer of Christ Restoration Church of God International Ministry, Rev. Dr . Uche Nwole, has said that he decided to contest for the Chairmanship of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State in the September, 21, 2024, Imo LG election, to further serve God and humanity.
Nwole who represented Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003 also said that he was moved to stoop low in order to stop the persistent injustice and political marginalization of his people, pointing out that it was the turn of Mbaitoli East, comprising the communities in Mbieri, to produce the next executive Chairman of the LGA.
Nwole stated these during a recent press briefing in Owerri, the Imo State Capital
The Mbieri born clergyman, philanthropist and business tycoon, decried the deliberate relegation and shortchanging of Mbieri people in political appointments and elective positions by political gladiators in the LGA, who, in their Oliver Twist mentality, grab every position for themselves, relatives and cronies.
He expressed deep regret that the communique issued after a meeting of Mbaitoli leaders and stakeholders, held at Chief Marcelinus Nlemigbo’s Owerri office to enthrone equity, justice and fairness in Mbaitoli, appeared to have been jettisoned by some notable leaders of the LGA.
” It is unfortunate that my good friend and ally, Leo Stan Ekeh, with whom i discussed the need to balance the political equation in Mbaitoli by ensuring that the next chairman of the council comes from Mbieri as advocated in the communique issued by Mbaitoli Leaders and stakeholders after a meeting they held at the Onitsha Road office of Chief Barr. Marcelinus Nlemigbo, is clandestinely, sponsoring and projecting one Austin from his community, Ubommiri”
He noted that Mbaitoli LGA is divided into East, North and South political blocs, pointing out that the incumbent Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, comes from the South while the Member, Representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, is from the North, wondering why the two blocs should aspire to produce the next chairman of the LGA to the detriment or of the marginalized Mbaitoli East, that presently, dies not have any person in government.
“As I speak, about ten people from Ezinihitte Ward have purchased the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms to contest the Chairmanship election while there are only two aspirants from Amaike ward. This does not project our people in good light”
“When i had no intention of joining politics about 37 years ago, I single handedly brought electricity to my community in addition to sinking a borehole with a 10,000 litres overhead water tank that serves most of the neighbouring communities”
“I have offered scholarships to thousands of brilliant indigent students in addition to empowering several women and youths who are doing well in different fields of human endeavour”
“God has blessed me beyond my imagination. Most people consider my decision to contest the upcoming local government chairmanship election as an insult but i consider it answering the clarion call of my people to come and change the political narratives in the LGA”
“My aspiration is driven by the urge for further service to God and humanity hinged on justice equity, fairness and selflessness.
