:Yet To Release List of Screened Hopeful.
Ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election in Imo, the APC Aspirants appear to be in state of dilemma as the Party again shifted the date for its Primaries Indefinitely.
This is even as the Party is yet to release the names of the Aspirants that were successfully screened after weeks of the exercise
Speaking in a meeting of the Party members made up of Aspirants yesterday, one of the Party Chieftains revealed that the next Saturday’s planned Primaries would not hold as planned.
According to the said party’s chieftain who did not speak for the Party, the Primaries has been shifted indefinitely and a new date which would not exceed next week would be communicated officially soon.
Recall,this is the Third time the said Primaries has been shifted in the Month of August.
Although Lead was not in the know of reason behind the sudden shift of the date as at the time of filing this report but unconfirmed sources hinted Lead that the change was to enable the ruling Party to put it’s house in order .
A reliable source from the Party confirmed to Lead that the Primaries would not hold by this Saturday adding that the Party would be burying one of their staunch members in Ideato that same day.
According to the Speaker, such a party who was murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen and the Party would be having Primaries. Meanwhile,available information to Lead revealed that majority of the Aspirants are now in the state of confusion given the gape between the date ISIEC has fixed for the Primaries and the time to campaign by those that succeed in the Primaries.
This delay as gathered by Lead has put fear that anything may happen or those unknown to the Party or the Aspirants may be selected as the Party Flg bearers in the forthcoming election in Imo.
The leadership of the APC in Imo had few weeks ago, conducted screening for all the Aspirants for the seats of Chairmanship and that of Councillorship.
Speaking to Lead Express,one of the Aspirants for the Local Government election who would not want his name in Print expressed fear, wondering why the ruling Party is yet to publish the names of Successful Aspirants for for both Chairmanship seat and that of Councillorship while the election date is around the corner.
Another Chairmanship Aspirant who also spoke on the guise of anonymity described as ominous and dangerous, the delay in publishing the names of Successful Aspirants after months of screening, stressing that the Party may on that day of primaries, release the names of those they have selected behind the doors and this according to the Aspirants would not give those shutout the opportunity of joining other political parties to execute their aspirations.
The Aspirant who however urged Governor Uzodinma to compel the leadership of the Party to release the said list however warned the party against the repeat of this method which according to him was used during the House of Assembly primary elections which he said resulted in the APC going extra miles to deliver the House of Assembly candidates in the main election.
Recall that APC had collected the sum of Three Million from Aspirants for the seat of Chairman and One Million for those contesting for Councillor for the nomination and expression of interest forms.
This rate however was greeted with varying reactions in Imo.
While many people condemned it on the ground that it was exorbitant,some persons hailed the Party for such.
