Ahead of September 21 Imo Local Government election, the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission has denied knowledge of circulating list of APC Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates.
In a Press Statement signed by the Chairman of the Commission , Charles Ejiogu and made available to Lead, the Commission made it clear that the release of such names would be made public after the mandatory validation of personal details of all the Candidates are gathered as required by law.

The attention of ISIEC has been drawn to sleezy news making the rounds to the effect that the Commission had released the names of candidates in the upcoming local government council elections.

This piece of information, in its entirety, is both misleading and mischievous.

In compliance with its unambiguous ly enunciated guidelines and other extant rules and regulations connected thereto, the Commission will only release list of candidates of all registered political parties after the mandatory validation of personal details of all candidates as required by the law.

Therefore, flowing from the above, all the participating political parties, their candidates, and the general public are hereby requested to disregard this blatant falsehood with outright ignominy.

Please be guided accordingly.

It would be recalled that list of the purported APC Councillorship and Chairmanship Candidates have been circulating in Imo since last Friday.
