The leadership of Imo APGA has rejected the just concluded local government election results, describing it as a sham.
Rising from a meeting of all the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party that contested in the just concluded LGA Polls, the party insist they will be heading to court to challenge the outcome of the election.
The party said they will be heading to federal high court where they will join the Revenue and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC) to stop all the allocation accruing to the LGA until the determination of the case.
Reeling the offences of the electoral umpire, the ISIEC, Imo APGA pointed out that the body defrauded candidates by compelling them to pay certain amount of money before they will be revalidated.
“Some of the sins of ISIEC among other things, include not publishing the names of the candidates of the party before the election. The electoral umpire also deliberately refused to publish the names of candidates thereby making substitution and change of name impossible”, the party said.
“We are heading to court to challenge the outcome of the election and we are joining the RMFAC, among other institutions to enable them to stop any allocation until the determination of the matter”
Speaking during the interactions with party chieftains, the state chairman of APGA, Hon John Iwuala said that last Saturday election can best be described as sham where the party recorded no election in most of the polling units across the state. Chief Iwuala insists the party will be challenging the outcome of Saturday election where the candidates of APC across the state where declared as the winners.
Most of the candidates of APGA who spoke in condition of anonymity said there was no election in their area describing the last Saturday council elections as rape of democracy in Imo.
Most of the candidates of the party who spoke to our correspondence described Governor Hope Uzodinma as the most undemocratic governor in the history of Imo State as he was unable to conduct a credible council elections in Imo State.
