The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, on Thursday, Dec.8th 2022, successfully inaugurated its 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, at their party secretariat along Owerri/Okigwe Road.
At the function, the Imo PDP State Party Chairman, Chief Engr.Charles Ugwu, called on all the members of the PCC to work together for the successive of the party in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, “By our gathering here today, with this particular action, the Presidential Campaign Council is hereby inaugurated. As we inaugurate the central PCC here in Owerri, so also we do same at all wards and local government levels”.
Ugwu charged the members to work assiduously and dutifully in order to deliver the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He said, “We expect you to be dedicated so that our presidential candidate, His Excellency, Abubakar Atiku, will be announced winner. Also, we have 27 Imo House of Assembly Candidates, 10 Federal House of Representatives candidates and 3 Senatorial Candidates. Our collective duty is to make sure that all of them emerged winners in the 2023 general polls”.
Speaking, the former Imo Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nkem Ihedioha, who is also the 2023 PCC Imo Chairman, expression satisfaction on the successful inauguration, but described Imolites as predominantly PDP State and so such had good chances of winning the elections at all levels by next year.
Hear him, “We must get this very clear. First, we have all accepted the responsibility of marketing and campaigning for election of our presidential candidate, Atiku. The fact is, Imo State has always delivered PDP almost 100 per cent since 1999 and 2023 will not be an expectation”.
According to Ihedioha, “I am therefore calling on all of us to go back to our wards and local governments and work(campaign). Elections are not won in the party secretariat in Owerri. We must work hard, in unity and togetherness for us to deliver our candidates. Again, let us eschew bitterness and disunity”.
It is on record that 1125 members of Imo PDP were officially inaugurated as members of the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council.
Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of Imo PDP, Comr.Collins Opurozor, in a swift media chat with some newsmen, recalled that his party in the last Presidential Elections gave Atiku 67% of votes, but expressed optimism that members of Imo PDP would deliver Atiku and give him victory with more than 90% of votes that would surely pronounce him the winner of the 2023 Presidential polls in Nigeria by February next year.
