The obnoxious p inrices of Food items in Imo appear to be coming to an end as bill on regulation of Food prices has gone through third reading and awaits Governor’s assent.
The bill which was chiefly sponsored by member representing Owerri West in Imo House of Assembly Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi will ensure regulation of prices of Food Items Imo Imo if assented by the Governor.
Recall that Lead had on its last Wednesday edition reported that the said bill had gone through the second reading.
Indiscriminate sale as well as high rate of food items will soon become a thing of the past in Imo as Member representing Owerri West in Imo State House of Assembly bill,Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi bill on Procurement, distribution Of Commodities passed second reading at the floor of the House.
The said bill according to the member who is also the Majority leader in the House of Assembly is aimed at regulating indiscriminate and exorbitant sale of commodities by sellers.
This is a bill for a law to repeal the Imo state marketing agency Edict No 11 of 1986 and enact a law to establish the Imo state marketing and commodities board that will be reasonable for the Procurement, Distribution and Marketing of commodities in the twenty seven (27) LGAs of Imo state, said the chief sponsor, Onyemaechi.
By the actualisation of this bill, at a repeal, will help the entire state to have a regulated market price across board.
There will be definitely a fixed price and regulation of prices of commodities in Imo market as to be repealed by the 10th House IMHA.
It is worrisome coming to oil and gas and Petroleum products selling at different prices in the same state.
No doubt this bill will definitely help Imolites to enjoy a regulated price of Commodities and distribution.
