IMSU 32 inaugural lecture: Obiareri makes case for technocrats in govt

An erudite Prof Momo Nnamdi Obiaraeri of lnternational law and Jurisprudence, a lecturer in lmo State University, faculty of law, last Thursday, during the 32 INAUGURAL LECTURE of the university, canvassed for the take over of the realms of governance by the Technocrats that’s is, the philosophy kings as Plato did say in his book of much acclaim – “The Republic.”

This is even as he attributed Nigerians problems to leadership failure.
Speaking on the theme of the inaugural lecture: “Denatured Human Rights in Nigeria – A new normal is possible”, he agreed and spoke into the thoughts of the then South African Statesman of the blessed memory, Nelson Mandela, that, “The collapse of good conscience and observance of accountability and public scrutiny have led to crimes against humanity and violations of international laws.”

Speaking on good governance and social justice, he lent self to a barrage of introspection and rhetorics and convincingly proved that Nigeria is facing unstable government in all strata as a result of failure of leadership, tribalism, nepotism and favouritism, hence the stunted growth and wasted resources and limping under capacity . May we not perish based on our inability to produce, he prayed.

He opined that good law conduce to good governance, hence the need according to him, to interrogate our article of faith — the grund norm of our constitution. He advanced that none should be oppressed even casually, either through palpably skewed juicy appointments at all levels, Millennium Development Agencies ( MDAs), Forces and Parastatals. He said no good lawyer worth his act, falls short of that desired. “Lawyers do not speak nonsense, they speak sense and personally, l don’t subscribe to the inversion of logic of having gone to school when others did.” By implication, he inputs that good governance is better served by the Technocrats, the well informed with experimented experience across disciplines. As far as he is concern, Technocrats have the midas touch and are very much in a frame of mind to uphold and propagate natural justice, equity and good conscience, so necessary in grassroots politics, the central deity of development governance.

Prof.Obiaraeri, consciously set an agenda,that has mandated the masses to connect and converse on lmo 2027 Governorship race and by extension, the presidency.l
