The Imo State Congress Of America ISCA, will hold their annual women committee forum on the 27th of July 2024, in Oklahoma United States of America, the event will have in attendance dignitaries within and outside the city.
In a press release signed by the PRO Mrs Evelyn Iwuamadi Childs, the National Women’s Committee chairlady, High chief Mrs. Agnes Obaji, disclosed that the Committee has much for the ISCA National women organization through initiatives that have empowered many internationally. According to her the committee’s history, had many First Ladies, but in 2014, under the leadership of Lolo Nkemdi Onyirimba and her executives board, the organization moved ISCA to a new dimension. They made numerous contributions to support their own in the US emotionally and financially during ceremonies, both good and bad, such as the dedication of children, birthday event, marriages, hospitalities with palliative in times of disasters and more.
Even as she further avarred that back home in Imo state Nigeria, they have also empowered widows, widowers, special children and the less privileged in the State by supporting their small businesses and microfinances.
Lolo Obaji, further revealed that they run food drives and distribute necessities to those that are present at their empowerment programs. Adding that these programs are typically conducted during Nigerian festive periods including December.
She stated that, they also initiated the building of bus stop shades that were built in Owerri a few years ago with a maintenance culture and hope to upgrade the dilapidated while building new ones to capture other areas.
High-chief Mrs. Agnes Obaji , said that in regards to their youths, each year, they conduct workshops where they teach Nigerian-American youths more about the culture featuring Igbo language classes and culture training. This is to bring Imo youths abroad closer and at par with their peers when then finally relate either back home in Nigeria or elsewhere.
The Women’s Leader President, added that the organization also encourage their women to speak in their native Igbo language within their homes to maintain their roots. Adding that It is In accompaniment to tracing their roots, noting that they have an annual “Ada Imo” Beauty Pageant where female contestants aged 18-25 showcase their devout commitment to Imo beliefs and culture.
The ISCA boss Mrs Obaji further disclosed that this year, women are participating to ensure that this becomes the best convention they have ever had. Pointing out that their conference’s theme is “Essential Tips For Better Health” Women empowering women, in line with the National Theme “Imo Gadi”.
She expressed optimism that this will be achieved through empowering their men, women and youths about their cultural norms and diversity, teaching the young people morals that the Igbo people and Imo State have laid their foundations on.
According to her , they have outlined the activities to improve and strengthen the lives of less privilege women in the state from different backgrounds and localities.
Even as she maintained that their First Lady, Chief Mrs Ngozi Ekeigwe has done so much in helping to bring their women together to achieve a common goal. Assuring that she has been working with her executives to make sure that this convention and women conference will continue to be a success.
Pointing out that she reported their progress to the ISCA National President Chief Frank Ekeigwe and the executive as a chain leader.
Finally the release according to Mrs Iwuamadi childs the chairlady encourages all women and families to troop out enmasse to Oklahoma on the 27th of July to grace this momentous occasion designed to foster unity and culture among its people.
The Press Secretary, Mrs Childs added that the Speakers at the this year’s program include, Lady Franca Ibe, Lady Ugboaku Akwaugo Onuoha,and Lolo Ezinne Ijeoma Nwanebu.. He Hon. Ambassador Dr. Stella Onuoha will moderate at the occasion.
