The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) the body responsible for the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections in the state has commended the leadership of Imo State APGA under Chief John Iwuala for the orderly and peaceful manner they conducted their primaries across the state last Saturday.
This commendation was made by Mr Ubah Chidi, the HOD EPM of the commission while monitoring the primaries of the party which took place across the political wards and 27 LGAs in the state while the final collation center was at the party State Secretariat, Egbu road Owerri
Mr Ubah expressed happiness that APGA followed due process to elect and clear her candidates to contest the forthcoming council polls in the state. He therefore on behalf of the commission assured the party of level playing grounds to all her candidates
On the petition by some aggreived people masquerading as the leadership of the party, the EPM HOD said that the commission will not show face in any party that the leadership is doubtful to the commission.
“If the commission feels there is discrepancy in the leadership of any party, we (the commission) will not come to monitor or observe any primaries”, he stated.
Earlier on, the Imo state chairman of APGA Chief John Iwuala commended the commission for recognizing and dealing with the authentic leadership of the party in Imo.
Iwuala stated that he is aware of the activities of some fifth columnists who want to scuttle the noble efforts of the party put in place by his leadership in the state.
He sounded it loud and clear that leadership change will not happen in Imo APGA since there is a substiting court order restricting the national leadership of the party not to tamper with Imo exco.
“Oye obeyed that court order and Barr Sly Ezeokenwa equally obeyed it. So whosoever that is the national chairman of APGA should obey it”
He vowed that anybody who refuses to obey the court order will be taken to court and charged with flouting order 48 and 49 of the the contempt of court.
On the readiness of Imo APGA to win the forthcoming chairmanship and councillorship seats, the state chairman urged the candidates not to be intimidated by the propaganda of APC machinery, insisting that the governor warned the state electoral umpire not to tamper with any result for him (governor).
“Let us use our PVCs to protest against any bad person in the forthcoming local government polls”, he declared
