Senator representing Imo West in the Red Chambers,Senator Osita Izunaso has described the creation of Orlu State as a done deal.
Izunaso who disclosed this during the empowerment of Orlu Women in modern Agriculture and Farming in Owerri revealed that both equity, fairness favour the creation of Orlu State from the existing Imo State.
Senator Izunaso,a two time Senator and a former House of Representatives Member revealed that Orlu Zone with Twelve Local Governments is bigger than many States in Nigeria ,Bayelsa, Gombe inclusive adding that infrastructure wise, population wise as well as Land Mass, Orlu Zone has all the prerequisites to be created a State.
Izunaso who used the forum to call on all Nigerians, particularly the people of the South East to support the proposal revealed that with creation of Orlu from the existing Imo State will balance the imbalance in the South East which according to him will douse the insecurity, tension and above all, the perceived marginalisation of the People of the South East.
I am happy, majority of my Colleagues have seen reasons why they should support me in my quest for creation of Orlu State,he said
Describing Agriculture and mechanized farming as solutions to the growing hunger in Nigeria, Izunaso who empowered over 110 Women with modern farming implements appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity to better their lots.
It would be recalled that Senator Izunaso had during his first time in the Senate canvassed for the creation of Orlu State, a move which the national Assembly has taken judicious notice of.
