: Describes Position As Statutory
: Appointment Ends June.
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma appears to have ignored and overlooked the motion moved by Imo State House of Assembly, calling on him to dissolve certain parastatals, including Coordinators of the Development Centres in Imo.
Imo State House of Assembly had last month through the Deputy Speaker Imo State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu urged the Governor to consider dissolution of the Coordinators of the Development Centres.
However, while the House has been waiting to hear from the number one Citizen to act accordingly, Lead gathered that the State Government has ordered the said people to continue with their assigned duties as well, assured them of the payment of all their outstanding salaries soon.
Lead had earlier reported that some of the dissolved Commissioners as well as House of Assembly members have not been at peace with the Development Centres Coordinators in their respective Local Governments given the recognitions and respects they command as a result of adequate remuneration they get from the Uzodinma led administration.
Lead authoritatively gathered that the said Coordinators are being used by the State Government in doing some of the rural jobs ranging from construction of( culverts,) grading of Roads in their respective Communities,an act which some of the dissolved Commissioners and certain House of Assembly members believed that should be assigned to them.
It would be recalled that on January 16th when Governor Uzodinma invited the Expanded Exco and officially dissolved them, the Governor made it clear that the Coordinators of the Development Centres were not part of the meeting.
However, the implication of this statement by the Governor, entailed that they were not part of the people dissolved hence their invitation to the said meeting was abnormal.
Speaking to Lead Express, one of the Government functionaries who would not want her name in Print revealed that the Governor has assured the Coordinators that their office is statutory and remains operational till June 2024 and all their entitlements remain sacrosanct.
