The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NUTRW), Imo State Chapter, Hon. Comr. Samuel Udeh, says his tenure will end on November 2027, not on September 7 2024 as speculated in the media.

He noted that he was reelected on November 30, 2023 after the Off-Cycle Imo Guber election that produced Governor Hope Uzodimma, who he said found him worthy and appointed him Chairman of NUTRW in his first term, because the Governor meant well for the Union.

Udeh disclosed that the national body made him National Trustee Officer having seen his ingenuity, leadership capacity and godliness to richly restructure the Union.

Reacting on the speculative media publications that his tenure would elapse on September 7 2024, Udeh said the rumor was a fabrication by those he described as sycophants who are not happy about the rich transformation he engineers in the Union, a development he added is breeding peace, orderliness and progress in the Union.

Stressing that NUTRW is very organized, Udeh hinted that the election that produced him was fairly and democratically conducted, adding that the Calendar of the Union says Four Years Term and that any elected officer has the constitutional right to contest for Second Term if he or she wishes.

Udeh who noted that NUTRW is no longer what it used to be in the past as he, with the help of other dutiful officers and committed members, had restructured the Union, expressed joy on the robust assistance Governor Hope Uzodimma renders to the Union, harping that many of the Unionsts have been made Community Liaison Officers in their various communities, just as 5 slots were allotted to the Union for Pilgrims in Israel and Jordan.

“I was officially reelected on 30th November 2023 as Chairman according to the Calendar of the NUTRW, Imo State. The Union found me worthy and reelected me to lead them for another term which ends in 2027. The National Body also saw capacity in me and elected me as Trustee Officer of NUTRW. The Union’s election, according to its calendar, holds simultaneously across the federation.

“I have restructured the Union because Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is very good and friendly to Imo people and the Union, has been there for us. We will often remain grateful and supportive to the Shared Prosperity Government which has succeeded in redefining democratic governance in Imo State”.

Affirming that NUTRW has 4 years tenure in line with the constitution of the Union which also gives room for second term, some Unionsts: Chief Odinaka Osuji (State Auditor), Comr. Anuforo Ndubuisi Dominic (State Trustee and Ulakwo Branch Treasurer), Elder Timothy Ekemezie Agu (State Trustee and Chairman, Mbieri, Ogwa, Amaimo Bus Branch), described Hon. Samuel Udeh as a man of integrity who has done many good things that entice the public to rate NUTRW as a responsible Union.

“Udeh’s tenure will end in 2027 and we wish he continues after 2027 because he has firmly transformed the Union. He worked hard with members of the Union towards the reelection of Governor Hope Uzodimma who is transforming the state. The Governor has built quality roads across Imo State, making our job very easy, as we have reduced going to the mechanics regularly”.

Remarking that Udeh is an exceptional leader and ranks the best State Chairman nationwide, SA, Political to NUTRW, Hon. Dr. Deacon Ajunwa Paul, described “Udeh as a straight forward human being who still has a lot of years to serve as State Chairman of NUTRW. Those peddling false news against him are envious of the great things he had achieved for the Union within short time. Udeh so much loves the Governor who he is emulating in leadership.”
