: Rural Dwellers Conversant With Obi’
: Opposition Weak In Educating Electorate
Ahead of the national Assembly elections, the influence and overwhelming Support of the Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in South East and Imo in particular appears to have posed a serious threat to the expected success of the APC and PDP national Assembly candidates in the next election.
This is even as the APC,the PDP as Political parties are doing very little in educating the electorate in the rural Communities who are already conversant with the name Peter Obi as well as the Labour party.
Investigations carried out by Lead revealed that the majority of the electorate living in the rural areas of the State are in love and in tune with the name” Peter Obi who they believe is a saint politically when compared with other presidential candidates.
However,Lead gathered that the said electorate are ready and eager to vote Peter Obi for president and depart from the polling booths but following the campaigns by the Labour party’s national Assembly candidates who have always told them to vote all, Labour party on the grounds that the said Peter Obi may be impeached after winning the election if he has no back-up from the Labour party members in the national Assembly, the electorate in the rural areas have begun to buy into the teaching.
Speaking with our team, a man from Aboh Mbaise who gave his name as Chief Okorienta revealed that he as well as many persons from the Community now see the Labour party as a party which has replaced the popular APGA in Igbo Land since an Igbo Son,Peter Obi is running for the presidency under the platform.
According to the speaker,in order not to make a mistake in voting for Peter Obi in Labour and another party in the national Assembly that he would rather vote the Labour party all through.
In same vain, a Woman who gave her name as Mrs Ngozi Ukwuoma, a trader at Relief Market Owerri informed Lead that she had not voted before but this time around she picked her PVC only to vote for Peter Obi as well as other Labour party candidates .
