The Nkwerre Aborigines Union (NAU AMERICA) was on Saturday 25, 2024 in Los Angeles, California thrown into uncontrollable jubilation following the emergence of new executive members elected to oversee the affairs of the Union for the next four years amid cash donations earmarked for youth empowerment.

Inaugurating the new National President (NP), the outgoing NP in the person of Dr. Emeka Chinaka urge his successor to ensure that the Union remains peaceful and united while bond of togetherness remain their watchword.

Chinaka called on the good members of NAU America to work hand in gloves with the present administration for the upliftment of the Union to enable them achieve more goals for their people, mostly the Youths and Students of their Community.

In his acceptance speech, the new elected National President, Sir/Engr.IK Okanu commended the outgoing National President and his executive for keeping the Union together and promised to run an inclusive administration where every member will have a sense of belonging as he believes in togetherness of the Union and Nkwerre as a whole, while the President of California and the Chief host of the day, Engr. Ejike Mbarauguru inaugurated other executive members.

The 2024 National Convention with the Theme: Youth Empowerment that took place at Embassy Suites LAX North Los Angeles California witnessed Gala Night drew people from all walks of life to grace the occasion and as well donate for the betterment of Nkwerre youths to avert being associated with insecurity and vices that will bring shame to the youths,families and community at large.

The National President, Dr. Emeka Chinaka thanked the donors while praying God to replenish their pockets (Purse) while the chairman and co-chairman of the occasion Dr.John ND Ojinmah and chief Anele Ezeukwu commended the organizers of the event and California chapter for the warmth reception as the Gala night turned out a huge success. They urge NAU America not to relent in executing projects that will benefit Nkwerre people as Nkwerre is known for hospitality from the creation of the world.

On the other hand, Ebirim, Reginald, M.D during the Union interactive section emphasized on the need for the good people of Nkwerre to run for a Colon Cancer screening for men and women between the age of 45 and above for it will definitely do them more good than harm if they would make out time in their busy schedules to perform the life saving screening test. In his word “I laid it bare that it is safe,effective and covered no cost to anyone who has health insurance in this country (USA) as he eulogies Obamacare”.

Speaking further, Ebirim declared that one does not need to be sick to screen and does not need to have a family history of disease to screen neither does one need to have any symptoms to screen.

Commending Ebirim for finding out time to lecture Umu Nkwerre on the importance of Colon cancer screening, the amiable Secretary of NAU America, CA branch, Elder Iheanyi Nathan thanked Ebirim and other medical personnel on the topic they lectured while promising that the information will get to the grassroot-Nkwerre Community as he urged every member to circulate the information at home as “prevention is better than cure”, he concluded.

Ebirim disclosed that Screening is every 5-10 years depending on one’s risk profile and screening method used, stressing that the Causes of Colon cancer (CC) includes genetics, smoking, certain diets (animal protein and high fat) and certain diseases while screening, dietary modification, exercise, smoking cessation are key for prevention in most cases.

He however noted that “Most People Diagnosed With CC Have No Family History of the Disease, hence the importance of screening”, he echoed.

The Patron of the noble Union, Nze Joe Ajomiwe (Agbawodikeizu) while interacting with the reporter commended the California branch women for their doggedness in ensuring togetherness and peace of the Union as a great supportive group to the Union.

The highlights of the day was the inauguration of the new executive, children picnic, presentation of Award to the outstanding Executive members by the outgoing National President and fundraising for the Youths Empowerment,bestowing of Patron on the outgoing National President among others while the women thrilled the guests with Nkwerre cultural dance as they displayed their customized Uniform with joy.
