It Seems like the seven Imo PDP G7 who defected to APC ahead of the November 2023 Governorship election in the state have been abandoned by His Excellency, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma.

This is even coming as the Governor has not found any of them worthy for appointment in his just constituted Cabinet.
The question on the lips of Imo people is has Governor abandoned them or has he settled them with supervisory appointments earlier given to each of them which however lasted for three months.
Recall that the G7 members which include; Sir Martins Ejiogu (State Deputy Chairman)Hon (Nze) Ray Emeaña (State Secretary)Comrade Greg G.O.C. Nwadike (State Youth Leader)Collins Opurozor (State Publicity Secretary) Hon. Chief Mrs. Maria Mbakwe (State Woman Leader) Barr. Josiah Eze (State Treasurer), Barr. Chibuisi Obido (State Vice Chairman, Orlu Zone), claimed that they left the party because of violence, intimidation and threats to life by their then Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu ( Samdaddy) who also doubles as the PDP National Secretary.

Subsequently, most of them were appointed Special Advisers to the Governor of which, Lead Express gathered that they worked tirelessly towards the re- election of the Governor as most of them were pioneers of various mobilization groups like Imo Progressive Movements, IPM, which mobilized over 10,000 voters across the 27 LGAs for the Governor’s re election bid.

With his recent appointments and subsequent plans for inauguration the new Cabinet without considering any member of the said G7, tongues have begun to wag that it’s either they are not loyal to the Governor or not considered capable of serving the state in any capacity.

Speaking with a PDP caucus member on the grounds of anonymity, he mocked the seven defectors for their decision, Stating that ” though they were not comfortable with the Party’s choice of Governorship candidate but leaving the party to join the ruling APC which has practically achieved little or nothing since the inception of the Government leaves much to be desired.

An APC chieftain who also spoke on the guise of anonymity, maintained that Governor Hope Uzodinma is known for rewarding loyalists as seen in his appointments so far. Haven defended the 3R administration of Uzodinma since their defection, I believe that the Governor has plans for them”.

Wether or not Gov Hope Uzodinma will still consider them in his second tenure administration is still under pipeline as Imo people are watching with keen interest.
