In a decisive move to combat violent crimes and enhance security across Imo State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has led a tactical security operation in collaboration with local vigilante groups to comb suspected criminal hideouts in the forested areas of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.
Following the successful operation, CP Danjuma also paid strategic visits to the Traditional Rulers of Umuhu and Ihitte-Okwe Autonomous Communities as part of his proactive community policing strategy.
In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the visits were aimed at strengthening police-community relations, soliciting local support, and enhancing intelligence-sharing to bolster security efforts in the region.
During his meeting with HRH Eze Basil Anyanwu, the traditional ruler of Umuhu Autonomous Community, CP Danjuma emphasized the importance of community-driven intelligence in sustaining peace and security. He reassured the traditional ruler and his cabinet of the police command’s commitment to addressing their security concerns and working closely with local vigilantes to combat criminal activities.
Similarly, CP Danjuma was warmly received by HRH Eze B. A. Obirieze, Okwe I of Ihitte-Okwe Autonomous Community, who commended the police force for their proactive security measures. The commissioner also praised the efforts of the Area Commander and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in maintaining law and order. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the necessary resources and logistics to sustain peace across Imo State.
CP Danjuma stressed that the forest-combing operations in Ngor-Okpala LGA and other parts of the state will continue to dislodge criminal hideouts and prevent the emergence of safe havens for criminal activities.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide credible intelligence that will aid the police in their fight against crime.
The Imo State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards criminality in the state.
