The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated the host nation, Morocco, to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the 10th time (WAFCON) with a 3 – 2 scoreline.
Morrocon Chebbak demonstrated a winning step by scoring for Morocco with a stunning effort from the edge of the box in the 12th minute.
And Sanaâ Mssoudy went ahead to add a second goal for Morocco in the 24th minute after beating Michelle Alozie in the box before producing a low finish pass to Chiamaka Nnadozie to make it 2-0.
However, the Super Falcons came out of the second half with an improved performance to change the scoreline with Esther Okoronkwo broking the deadlock for Nigeria in the second half with a fine penalty to reduce the deficit for the Super Falcons in the 64th minute.
And in the 71st minute, Folashade Ijamilusi made it 2-2 with a close-range finish.
Jennifer Echegini who was submitted in the 88th minute scored the winning goal for Nigeria to seal a 3-2 win, to bring again the trophy for the 10th time to Nigeria.
