Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Chapter, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma has inaugurated the Lead Express Newspapers’ Chapel Executives, reassuring them of his continuous support and accommodation in the union’s activities.
This is even coming as he commended the management and staff of Lead Express for maintaining professionalism in their reportage.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held recently, Nwanguma disclosed that Lead Express Chapel has been in existence for years but due to some contingencies, the chapel executives were not inaugurated. He further expressed satisfaction that the vibrate Lead Chapel Executives are being inaugurated during his tenure.
He also lauded the staff for conducting a free, fair and credible election which saw the emergence of Mrs Ebele Osemeke Chikezie as Chairperson of the Chapel.
Nwanguma who expressed delight over the professionalism of the Newspapers, disclosed that Leas Express has been working with core journalists, reasons the paper has not experienced any form of libel or scandal suits. He urged the newly elected executives to abide by the rules and regulations of the union, noting that Lead Express must play a role in NUJ as they will be accommodated in all their activities.
Earlier in his speech, the Publisher Mr. Declan Anele disclosed that Lead Express has always observed the ethics of the profession in their reportage and will continue to support the Union’s leadership in his efforts to salvage the profession in the state. He also thanked comrade Nwanguma for his continuous partnership since his assumption as the state NUJ Chairman.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Ebele Chikezie expressed her profound gratitude to the leadership of NUJ and staff of Lead Express for finding her worthy to assume the mantle leadership. She promised to continue with the harmonious relationship that has been existing between the chapel and NUJ and vowed to abide by the constitution of the Union.
