Okoroike presents 5.7B budget to councillors as capital expenditure gulps 93%

Long term and physical projects have taken over largest percentage of the budget proposal of the Isiala Mbano Executive Chairman Hon. Evangelist Chika Okoroike’s 2025 fiscal year which he presented to the Legislative Council on Tuesday 18th February, 2025.
The budget which he Christened “Budget of Holistic Economic Development” estimated to #5,753,573,910 was submitted to the Legislature for scrutiny and approval.
The Council Boss pointed out that the estimate captured the rural dwellers as well as making life more meaningful in the sustenance of the 3R policy of Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State.
Okoroike while breaking down the budget disclosed that the sum of #5,360,385,300. representing. 93 percent of the total budget, was earmarked for Capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure received #1,251,414,810. representing 7%.
According to him, in line with the Shared Prosperity administration of Governor Uzodimma, the objectives of the budget proposal is to stimulate rapid and holistic economic, social and infrastructural development in the Council.
While highlighting other areas of interest like Education, Health, Security among others, he therefore, urged the legislative house to approve the budget proposal in order to unlock the economic potentials of the local government area.
The leader of the Council Rt. Hon Okechukwu Mgbeosuru, who earlier read his address commended the Chairman for his proactiveness in discharging his duties
He further applauded him for his doggedness in the recovery of Nkwo Mbaa erosion site and for undertaking the construction of a befitting secretariat at the council headquarters, Umuelemai.
He gave his assurances on the Budget proposal, maintaining that the house would give it accelerated hearing and scrutinize it even as he expressed confidence that the budget would be used judiciously.
Okoroike was accompanied during the budget presentation by the Executive Vice Chairman of the LGA, Mrs. Stella Laz Onyema, Secretary of the council, Hon Uzochukwu Iwuagwu, his Chief of Staff, Hon Golden Uzowuru, the council’s members of staff and notable leaders in the Local Government.
