In a bid to ensure steady electricity in Imo, the bill by Imo Majoricty leader and member representing Owerri West in Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi has passed the second reading.

The Bill titled Light Up Imo Project was presented by Onyemaechi On Thursday, September 5, 2024, at a plenary session.

Speaking on the importance of the Bll, Onyemaechi,a Two time House member argued that if the said bill is allowed to see the light of the day, it would go a long way in curbing insecurity which he attributed to mostly joblessness in the State.
Onyemaechi who made it clear that passage of this bill would Governor Uzodinma in his efforts in creating jobs for the teeming Imo Youths revealed that with steady power in Imo, people would be gainfully employed hence the restiveness amongst the youths would become things of the past.

“This initiative is designed to benefit all residents of Imo State, spanning across the 27 LGAs,” he stated. Onyemaechi further highlighted that the project would not only foster rapid infrastructural development and economic growth but also create job opportunities, reduce crime rates, and stabilize electricity supply through independent energy sources.
