:Adopt Anim State
:Delegate Izunaso to Effect Change.
The Stakeholders in Orlu Zone and some part of Anambra State have resolved to change the initial proposed Orlu State to Anim State.
This is even as they delegated Senator Osita Izunaso, the Senator representing Imo West in the Red Chambers who has been championing the course to effect the necessary change at the national Assembly.
The resolution was agreed upon in Owerri over the weekend by stakeholders from Orlu Zone, Ihiala and some part of Nnewi in Anambra State.
Speaking at the meeting, one of the proponents of the new State from Ihiala LGA,Dr ABC Ojiako however thanked Senator Osita Izunaso who according to him has remained steadfast in the pursuit of the new State.
Ojiako further used the forum to call on the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma to use his good offices in bringing the Governors of the South East together for the project pointing out that such would boost and fast track the realization of the State.
Ojiako further hinted that Anim State would very viable in Nigeria if realised given both the mineral resources as well as the calibre of People in the area.
In his submission, the member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Paschal Agbodike described the proposed State as an avenue to bring back the People of Ihiala back to their brothers and root to Orlu.
According to Agbodike a former House of Assembly member that represented Ihiala at the Anambra State House of Assembly , the Anambra People still see them as people from Imo and Orlu in particular adding that the Ihiala people still share same culture and dialect with the people of Orlu.
The House of Representatives member who concluded his speech with a motion, calling for the replacement of the initially proposed Orlu State with Anim however expressed gratitude to the Converner of the meeting, Izunaso as well as his eagerness to see to see to its realization promised to do his own bid at the House of Representatives to achieve the said goal.
The motion which was seconded by the Deputy Speaker Imo Stste House of Assembly ,Rt Hon Chyna Iwuanyanwu was put to voice vote and all the people present supported the motion.
Earlier in his speech, the convener of the meeting and Senator representing Imo West, Senator Osita Izunaso revealed that the agendum of the meeting was to discuss with our brothers from Anambra, precisely Ihiala and some parts of Nnewi who were not at peace and comfortable with the proposed name of the new State, which is Orlu as against what it used to be, Anim State since the struggle over the years.
On the possibility of getting the Anim State, Izunaso, a two time Senator and a former member of the House of Representatives revealed that, he has argued it before the national Assembly and other places that creating a new State from any part of the South East other than Anambra and Imo is not justifiable adding that it is only Imo and Anambra States that a new State is yet to be caved out from since their creation.
According to Izunaso, outside Imo and Anambra, other South Eastern States have had states created from them hence only Imo with Anambra which have higher number of Local Governments are ripe and mature to create new State from.
Describing the State Creation as achievable Izunaso however canvassed for unity of purpose in the pursuit adding that every hand must be on the deck.
Those present at the meeting include, Barr Peter Mgbewelu,Chief Osita Nwaneri, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwu Ojiako, Chief Ford Ozumba, Chairman Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chairman South East Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH,bEze Dr. Emmanuel Okeke, Co Chairman Southern Traditional Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya amongst Others.
