Roads to the popular Naze building materials Market have become death traps to both traders, buyers amongst others.
This is even as “Okada” has become the only means of transportation to in and out of the Market.
Our Reporter who has been monitoring the difficulties people go through in accessing the Market which has been (adjudged ) the biggest in building materials in the South East, reported that the two major Roads that lead to the Market, the Akanchawa Road and the Naze Road have been cut off by erosion, resulting in People accessing the Market by climbing only Okada.
According to our Reporter, buyers find it difficult buying building materials like cement, Rods, woods amongst other heavy things given lack of vehicles to convey their goods out of the Market given the bad roads that lead to the Market.
Speaking to our reporter, a trader who gave his name as Chief Okwudiri Livinus revealed that the bad state of Roads to the Market does not only affect the traders but also the IGR of the State adding that buyers of building materials in Imo now prefer going to the neighboring States like Anambra and Abia instead of Owerri adding that on several occasions, people particularly women have had accidents to the starting of incurring fractures of the legs amongst other injuries while on accessing the Market on byke or “Okada”
Another trader who identified his self as Okechukwu Okenwa called on the Uzodinma led administration to compel the contractor who abandoned the job after collecting money to return to the site.
He however appealed to Governor to come to the aide of the traders by fixing the roads now that the dry season is around the corner.
